All my items are created by hand on a large, custom Kessenich floor loom. This lets me individually select each thread for every piece made with tencel, saari silk, linen and cotton materials. Handcrafted items are a superb gift for any special occasion. The uniqueness, detailing and style of each item makes them as special as the person who receives them. The quality materials I use are made to last for years into the future.Provide a short description of the gallery, highlighting key things.

nuno felting

Nuno felting is a Japanese wet felting technique that bonds wool fibers onto a lightweight fabric, such as silk or chiffon, using water and soap.

The result is a lightweight, flexible, and often textured fabric, with the wool fibers migrating through the open weave of the base fabric to create unique designs and surfaces.

The process involves layering wool fibers onto the fabric and then agitating, rolling, and sometimes "throwing" the bundle to encourage the wool to felt and interlock with the base fabric.

about nuno felting

Gallery of nuno felted gift pouches

An expression of fiber art is Nuno Felting, a type of wet fabric felting technique derived from the Japanese word “Nuno” meaning cloth. The piece is created by combining several layers of wool and loose fibers like silk, cotton, linen and tencel. The technique is exact, the result is completely unpredictable using my hands, water, soap, air dried, and then sewing to create an envelope. The pouch can be used and reused for all kinds of occasions - holidays, birthdays, romantic notes, jewelry, etc. This is a unique way of enveloping a gift card, a piece of jewelry, a romantic note, a handwritten dinner invitation, etc. Every envelop is unique and no two are the same - measuring 3”x3.5” closed.
